Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index ceased the two-day losing streak, rebounding from a six-week low on April 20 as most blue-chip stocks advanced.
The shares of 284 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange jumped 1.05 percent, or 4.76 points, to close at 458.5 points.
Among the index members, 86 gained, 120 retreated, while 83 remained unchanged.
Trading volume on the city bourse slightly dropped over the previous trading session as 21 million shares changed hands at a value of VND454 billion, the lowest level since the beginning of this year.
Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) was the most active share in volume with 775,050 shares changing hands.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, followed with 654,260 shares.
Tan Tao Investment & Techology Joint Stock Company 584 (ITA) came next with 573,530 shares traded.
Binh Dinh Minerals Joint Stock Company (BMC) snapped its seven-day losing streak, recovering 4.96 percent to close at VND25,400.
Vinpearl Joint Stock Company (VPL) climbed the second day, gaining 4.92 percent to VND64,000.
Construction Joint Stock Company 47 (C47) restored 4.76 percent to VND13,200.
Viettronics Tan Binh Joint Stock Company (VTB) slashed 8.4 percent to VND10,900. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders for the second term of the year 2010 in cash at a ratio of 9 percent since May 23.
Tan Tien Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company (TTP) dived after treading water for two straight days, decreasing 8.11 percent to VND23,800.
Tan Cang Logistic & Stevedoring Joint Stock Company (TCL) extended its losing trend to four consecutive days, eroding 4.9 percent to VND23,300.
The Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller in the north tumbled for eight consecutive trading sessions, sliding 0.19 percent, or 0.16 points, to close at 86 points. Trading volume declined over the previous trading session as nearly 21 million shares worth VND276.14 billion changed hands.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares gained 0.12 points to 35.75 points this morning. A total of 350,000 shares changed hands at a value of VND1.76 billion.View more random threads:
