Stocks opened the new trading week this morning in a negative zone with indices of both national exchanges losing value on low trading values.

The benchmark VN-Index edged down 0.58 per cent at 383.48 points on a sluggish turnover of just VND171.1 billion (US$8.2 million) by the end of the morning's session.

Blue chips led the market down as most large-cap shares tumbled.

Real estate companies Kinh Bac City Development (KBC) and Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA) hit their floor prices, while Sacombank (STB), Military Bank (MBB), Vietcombank (VCB), property developer Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) and steelmaker Hoa Phat Group (HPG) declined 1.1-1.6 per cent.

The VN30 tracking the top 30 shares was down 0.71 per cent to 452.43 points.
MBB with nearly 895,000 shares traded became the most active code this morning. MBB lost 1.6 per cent to stand at VND12,100 a share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 1.12 per cent to close this morning at 51.23 points on a low value of VND68 billion ($3.2 million).

Sacomreal (SCR), a real estate arm of Sacombank, was the most active share with 4.47 million shares changing hands this morning. The share price rose 2.38 per cent to VND4,300 a share.
